Josh S.:

Hybrid Cloud is really the convergence of your private cloud and your public cloud resources. You're taken those together, merging them, putting them all into the same pane of glass. To build a hybrid cloud solution, we would start with the private cloud. Most customers already have the majority of that infrastructure in place.

 

What we would do is we would take their existing vSphere environment, we would use something like vRealize Automation to create their own private cloud. The next step would be to take the public cloud portion into play. We would set up a vCloudera instance or maybe an Amazon AWS instance and then connect those two Clouds giving you a hybrid cloud solution.

 

One of the issues that a lot of customers run into when trying to set up their hybrid cloud is dealing with a difference in networking and their private cloud in the public cloud. One of the ways that we can address this is through network virtualization. One of the tools we work a lot with to do that is VMware's NSX. That will actually allow us to stretch the layer two network between the two locations.

 

Customers who are concerned about the security of the solutions should know that the public cloud providers we work with are also PCI compliance, SAS 70, Sarbanes-Oxley. They have all the different compliancy requirements already in place, and their environments are actually usually more secure because you have very high end engineers working for those companies, making sure that everything's kept patched, up to date, and secure.
